Versant Object Database 8.0 is designed to handle the navigational access, seamless data distribution, and enterprise scale often required by applications that use complex C++, .NET and Java object models, have high concurrency requirements, and large data sets.

Add-on Modules Information

Versant Management Center Add-on Module (HTML)
Versant Management Center monitors the Versant Object Databases, designed following
the standard managing console/remote agent paradigm. The remote agent
resides on the Versant server system, while the managing console is a
graphical interface running on a Versant client system to display the
ongoing activity of the monitored database.

Versant Compact Add-on Module (HTML)
Versant's Online Database Reorganizer, Versant Compact, is for
applications that delete large numbers of objects. It lets you reclaim
unused space in your database while it is in normal operation,
increasing available free space and improving database performance.

Versant Fault Tolerant Server Add-on Module (HTML)
The Versant Fault Tolerant Server (FTS) is an add-on
software module enabling automatic
fail-over and recovery in the case of hardware or software failure.

Versant Asynchronous Replication Add-on Module (HTML)
Versant Asynchronous Replication (VAR) add-on module supports both master-slave and peer-to-peer asynchronous replication between multiple object servers. This can be used to replicate data to a distributed recovery site or to replicate data between multiple local object servers.

High Availability BackUp Add-on Module (HTML)
Versant High Availability Backup (HABackUp) enables usage of the disk mirroring features of EMC Symmetrix or other enterprise storage systems to take an online backup of very large data volumes without impacting availability.

VSQL Add-on Modules (HTML)
The Versant/SQL suite of software modules permits you to use conventional Structured Query Language (SQL) semantics to access data that resides in a Versant object database.
